You Named Me Grace

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Another year, another candle glows A gift of breath that only heaven knows I lift my hands and whisper thanks again For every step You've carried me since then And somewhere out there, on this very day A mother's heart once gave her child away [Chorus] Grace, You named me grace Before I ever saw my mother's face Pretty one, humble one Strong like a rock, You made me stand Held from the start in Jesus' hand Grace, You named me grace [Verse 2] She called me Shaunda, whispered it with love A name that fell like blessing from above It must have hurt to let her first born go But Lord, I pray that she will always know There's no bitterness, just mercy in my heart Forgiveness planted, healing from the start [Chorus] Grace, You named me grace Before I ever saw my mother's face Pretty one, humble one Strong like a rock, You made me stand Held from the start in Jesus' hand Grace, You named me grace [Bridge] Maybe on earth, maybe in glory We'll meet someday and finish our story With Jesus in our hearts, we can't be lost Love found us both at the foot of the cross [Verse 3] So on my birthday, Lord, I'll dance for You Anoint my feet in everything I do Let every spin become a holy prayer Let broken ones find healing in the air In Jesus' name, let chains fall to the floor Shaunda Ogletree will praise You more [Chorus] Grace, You named me grace And one day I will see my mother's face Pretty one, humble one Strong like a rock, You made me stand Held from the start in Jesus' hand Forever in Your grace [Outro] Happy birthday, child of grace Dance on, Shaunda, seek His face Amen, amen
